I don't normally review books, but this one caught my attention and I decided to take the opportunity, and I am glad I did. I had never heard of the author, Matt Mikalatos before, however I now want to read his other book, Imaginary Jesus!
The one that I read was, The Night of the Living Dead Christian, which is about fictional zombies, vampires, and a werewolf named Luther who wants to conquer his inner beast, be a better husband and father and learn about Christianity and ultimately find Christ.
Of course the monsters aren't real, but, rather metaphors of who we are in life, or who we aren't when we are not living live they way Jesus Christ would want us to. Luther's friends work together with him to help him on his quest to rid himself of the werewolf. They go about this by several different aspects, hoping to find the answers. This story was funny, upbeat and full of information that made me think about what I am doing with my own life.
There is a readers discussion guide and a guide to monsters in the back, which would be great for a Bible study or Church group discussions.
Don't forget to learn more about Matt Mikalatos at his website http://mattmikalatos.com or at www.tyndale.com.
