I have always been an avid reader, so is my husband, as our parents were before us. We have tried to pass this great gift of book reading to our kids, but, so far only 1 really likes to read. It is too bad too because books can take you places and bring all kinds of adventures alive in your mind. I have a hard time putting down a good book and will stay up waaay to late when I am engrossed in a good book.
Recently, I had a great book that I received in order to read and review. I could not put it down once I started it. The book is called: The X by Lorena Bathey.
The X:
Clarissa Hadonfield had it all. She lived in a lovely home surrounded by affluent intellectuals, had a successful husband, and two phenomenal teenage boys.
The day her doorbell rang, her life was substituted by one where she had to fight to get her kids back from an evil she never knew existed and had been sleeping next to for the last twenty years.
When Clarissa's X shows his true colors she finds she must become a strong woman who can not only grow prize-winning flowers, but can place a devastating roundhouse kick. When she meets Bryce Brightman, an ex-FBI agent she releases a woman whose only goal is to save her kids.
This story is about survival and what a woman can do when she put her brains, her brawn, and her boots into changing the course of her life and protecting those she loves.

My name is Lorena Bathey and I became a writer late in life, however, I've always been a fan of the written word. Starting from the time I would devour historical romances as a kid to becoming an English major in college, words have been a place of refuge for me.
The first book I wrote was Happy Beginnings, which is a hysterical memoir of my journey to find myself after my world fell apart. I had just lost my mother to cancer and then my husband divorced me, and somehow these horrible circumstances pushed me to change and inspired me to become more. The book is a memoir for women who have gone through loss, grief, or simply lost their way and need to know they are not alone.
After Happy Beginnings I found characters were in my head telling me a story so I started writing it down. That's how Beatrice Munson was born. As soon as I finished Beatrice's story another idea came, and another, until I now have over nine novels in my writing queue and I found myself a novelist.
How do I write these books? Simple, I write what I hear and see in my head. I write because there are stories to be told and people who want to read them. I write for the simple joy of the craft.
My thoughts on the book The X? I really loved it. I read it from start to finish and with this particular book, I didn't stop until I was finished. I really liked the characters and couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I felt for and with the main character and her struggles to fight for her children. It was not an incredibly long book and I think the target audience would be young adult up. I have already reserved another of Bathey's books, Beatrice Munson at my local library and it should be available for pickup tomorrow. I am excited to read another book by such a captivating writer.
